Falconry is the art of hunting with birds. In a strict sense, the term falconry is understood as hunting with specially trained falcons. However, hawks, sparrow hawks and eagles have also been introduced to the discipline. Falconry also allows for the breeding of birds of prey.
Falconry is a form of hunting which is closely related to natural prey techniques. Thus, it respects both livestock and its protection. As it is a quiet form of hunting, habitat conservation can be respected and natural relations between prey and bird can be maintained. Falconry itself has developed a technical language which has been transferred to everyday language and is still being passed down in speaking and writing.
