Performing Arts

The convention constitutes the performing arts to be:

• Theater, play and forms of cabaret, such as recitations or pantomime
• Dance
• Music

This domain consists of all types of instruments, objects and cultural spaces associated with the performing arts in the form of musical instruments, masks, costumes and (stage) props.

The performance practice is consistently subjected to change due to various external factors, such as the media, tourism etc.

Although identifying, archiving and documenting is fundamental to the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage, here, the convention focuses yet again first and foremost on the transmission of skills, performance techniques and knowledge on the production of instruments or the subtleties of a performance.
